Vacation Fail: Lessons from an Overpacked plan

Grote Kerk, church in Haarlem

I was overly ambitious when I crafted our minute-by-minute itinerary. I thought I’d squeeze as much activities as possible to make the most of the short vacation. However, I quickly learned the value of a more relaxed approach. Missing our connecting flight and losing seven precious hours of our trip was a harsh reality check. Let’s compare our overly packed plan with what actually happened.

Our accurately planned vacation turned into a funny mess 😂. The first day was crazy! while we managed to check off most items on our list, it was exhausting and stressful as we were in a hurry to see everything to make up for the lost time.

Some sites we wanted to visit (such as Molen de Adriaan and St. Bavo Cathedral) were closed by the time we arrived, so we settled for admiring them from the outside.

We had to save the A’dam Lookout for the next day, while we missed going to the House of Bols. and by the time we got to Zaanse Schans, everything was closed, even the restaurants 🤷‍♀️!
